 Fabrice,
Thanks for the information.I wonder if there is a difference with 4.3.5 vs. 4.2.5 that is enabling the build on RHEL8?
>From my output.log I get some items that I am not sure of:
 -   "error:expected ';' before 'if'" -   "'error' was not declared in this scope"
 -   Getting that the g++ linker (/bin/ld) does not support shared libraries          (The GCC linker supports it - same binary /bin/ld)
 -   "error: ac_nonexistent.h: No such file or directory" -  The last check before configure returns the "unsupported system: none" error is    'checking whether to enable ASan'.  Result is no.
So based on the config, it is very hard to determine what configuration item iscausing the "unsupported system".
Appreciate your help!Chris

On my RHEL 8.9 (4.18.0-513.9.1.el8_9.x86_64), configuration and compiling of  libzmq 4.3.5 succeeded after install gcc-c++ 8.5.0-20.el8 (sudo dnf install gcc-c++).
You should have more details on config.log.

Are you able to at least post your "uname -a" output?   _______________________________________________
