Zerorpc for nodejs has been incompatible with later versions of
electron/node/zeromq for a quite a while now - it seems it needs to be
modified to work with the latest zeromq. There is a ticket open
<https://github.com/0rpc/zerorpc-node/issues/108> but no progress.
Just thought I'd bring it to the attention of this list just in case
someone can take on this work (I am far from qualified).
I do know that there are literally dozens of unresolved posts on the
internet of people trying to install zerorpc with the latest versions of
electron and failing, myself among them. The number of useless workarounds
and myths around this issue grows and arguably damages the zeromq/zerorpc
ecosystem, as people perhaps turn away in frustration to find other
solutions.
Any electron users wanting to use zerorpc will follow the simple steps I
outlined <https://github.com/electron/electron-rebuild/issues/343> to start
a project and hit this problem immediately, which is an unfortunate
developer experience, with no obvious reason for the error, unless one digs
for days and days and figures it out, like I did (see above ticket).
