Thanks a lot for your quick assessment - good to know.
We are currently in the early stages of gathering our actual
requirements and the consequential predicted licence & support costs
of our current "weapons of choice".
While I'd certainly love to break our current vendor lock-in with
regard to messaging middleware I must admit it's unsure management
will follow this line of thought.
In a make-or-buy decision management seems to develop a tendency to
buy, which is why a ready-to-use AMQP solution might also sound
appealing to them.
In the end, it'll of course boil down to a consideration of licence
& support cost, operational risk and migration cost of existing
infrastructure, and an honest and realistic comparison of those.
If we decided to build on top of ZeroMQ then I'd like to see kind
of an opinionated (well-defined applicability to an intended messaging
problem space, not can-do-everything-for-everyone) distributed
open source MoM as a result, as an alternative to AMQP brokers, TIB/Rv,
WebsphereMQ and the like.
Best regards
