Oops, forgot, here are the build settings I used for zmq 4.0.3:
./configure CC=clang CCFLAGS="-fPIC -fsanitize=thread" CXX=clang++ CXXFLAGS="-fPIC -fsanitize=thread -fno-omit-frame-pointer" CFLAGS="-fPIC" LDFLAGS="-fsanitize=thread"
