[zeromq-dev] large number of file descriptors

Hi,
By looking in the /proc/'pid' directories I've noticed that ZeroMQ seems to create a large number of file descriptors.
For example a 'Server' I have running, which can also be a 'Client' to another 'Server', has ~30 socket/eventpoll files
associated with it.
(1) Is there some rule of thumb to give me an idea of how many file descriptors will be produced?
(2) Does ZeroMQ do anything to manage the overall number of file descriptors being used by a machine (being more parsimonius with them for example as you approach the machine limit)?
Many Thanks,
Tom
