I have done the ticket and the most simple example: LIBZMQ-304. 

Also see my tests and comments from the thread called "Compiling zmq inside program, 20.1.2012". 

For some reason v3.1.1 connection data is different than v2.1.x. I thought wire protocol should be the same, but I may be mistaken.
