Not so much - it's more that they were very much application level
components, so didn't fit - there was a concern people weren't developing
new devices because of the built in ones (one) were seen as 'sanctioned'.
So the real problem with devices is that to use them you need

Build it! Demonstrate the power of felix :) Seriously, there is a definite
gap for a library of small components that solve various problems - along
the lines of the old ZFL.
