Hi Michael,

The spec is accurate; XPUB/XSUB are not visible on the wire, they are
API constructs. Whether you use PUB or XPUB, the wire protocol is the
same, and uses the PUB socket type. Ditto for XSUB/SUB. I've added a
note to the RFC page to clarify this.

There are no undocumented changes to the protocol. If you find any,
those would be considered bugs.
