[zeromq-dev] Precision Timestamping

I have just started reading on 0MQ, and it appears it is just the
right thing I had been looking for.

One of interesting questions that springs to mind is whether it could
be integrated with another
quite particular technology - PTP (IEEE 1588). For those who haven't
heard of PTP, it basically
timestamps network packets on the PHY layer, and it is of great use in
various applications such
as industrial control and time sensitive streaming (it also plays a
significant role in upcoming AVB
standard from IETF (Audio/Video Bridging).

It would be interesting to here how packet timestamps obtained from
PTP could be utilised in 0MQ
and whether it will require modification of the core code or one could
glue inside of application code.
