It came up because I am writing a FIX generator/parser in Ruby as a little hobby side project. It will be transport agnostic so there's no reason it couldn't be used to bridge TCP & 0mq sockets (or bridge anything).

Also, a few of the QuickFIX developers were in attendance. 

We'll do another meetup in January. Hope to see you there!
