I can't :), at least not at this level.

The upper protocol (in protobuf) consider that you already known all the nodes that you expect a response from, either by configuration or by a census call.  For the census call, it is mainly based on a short timeout calls.  Also, for some calls, we can specified the recipients (or group of recipients), and all nodes that are not part of them shouldn't respond.
