Hi Andrew,

I believe Chuck, Pieter and Michael summarised the topic nicely. My 
personal comment is that when I've designed the feature, I was thinking 
more in the terms of MPLS labeling, i.e. tag your data with a label (at 
a wirespeed), then use the labels for routing further on in the topology.

Accidentally, the same construct can be used for creating gather/scatter 
arrays. The obvious question is whether the two mechanisms should remain 
conflated or whether they should be logically separated in some way.
