I'm not arguing either way, just curious as to what the decision
making process is here. You removed functionality that was present,
and now you're proposing to reintroduce it, both times without any
upfront discussion.
You remember we'd agreed to create a zutils layer that would package
functionality like this (and like SWAP, which you also announced
dead). Is this patch a decision to not make zutils?
Personally, more libraries = more pain. But it's manageable pain.
However, apparently randomly shifting decisions about the architecture
of the product isn't fun to work with.
