Just to inform jzmq users, I submitted a patch to jzmq at https://github.com/zeromq/jzmq/issues#issue/25 which should fix Poller behavior.

Crashes were relatively frequent (1-2 per day) on 32-bit Linux, but the problem may affect other systems as well. Moreover, if sockets are unregistered from the poller, then correct results are not delivered anymore. (Described in issue 24 in detail).
