So what happened, finally, was that the patch was on part of the
source tree that diverged in libzmq 3.0 master. It couldn't apply
cleanly to 2.1.

With Martin's help I've applied the patch to 2.1, and things are
working happily again.

There was one other problem reported with 2.1.5, related to packaging
OpenPGM. When this is fixed, we'll make a new 2.1.5 release (2.1.5.1).

Sorry to any who were hit by this mix up. We've fixed the procedures
to ensure it can't happen again.
