[zeromq-dev] Isn't the point of a major baseline release to cause growing pain ?

Reading the current discussion in regards to the proposed 3.0 baseline, I
see
some concern about hurting the users currently using the 2.X baseline.

As a 2.x user/coder, I would expect to have to make changes in my source,
perhaps even requiring significant relearning of how things are supposed to
work.

This of itself is not to be feared, it is the price of growth. Acceptance
of the
new baseline will come as a function of the new possibilities/improvements
it affords, and how long the old baseline is supported, among other things.

Anytime the major release number gets bumped, you know change is
coming fast and hard !

(just my two cents, or a milli-euro..)
