I can completely saturate a gigabit network with 104,000 packets-per-second
(pps), roughly 112MB/s, a jitter of 0.68ms and latency of 0.078ms. At
higher rates, i.e. 108,000 pps the protocol is over-saturating the network
and causing the jitter to continually increase.
Hardware consists of two circa 2005 single core Xeons with single Broadcom
BCM5704S on a BNT gigabit chassis switch. Testing is application to
application with memory copy.
Next step I guess is moving towards IPoIB or 10GigE hardware.
