Sorry to reply so late. I am not sure if I have to do something with
this or not; I believe (again) this speaks about the need to document
our internal patch / commit / release process. If it has already been
documented, please point me to that.

FWIW, the patch looks good to me. I'm glad to see you figured how to get
the version number into configure.in.
