Exactly.
There have been some discussions a few years ago whether calling autogen.sh
should be part of building a package (especially such as 0mq where a vcs
repository is available and doesn't contain the configure script.) The
conclusion was that autconf/automake are too fragile, so it was decided that
it's good practice that the package ships with a "tarball" type of base
source (with configure script etc.) instead of depending on exact
autoconf/automake versions.

Done. Thanks a lot, I found the old text a bit too much like advertising
but haven't found the time to come up with a better text so far.

Somebody (probably Peter, not sure) already proposed this. At first, I
thought I'd not rename the package because it was already done. OTOH
thinking about now I see that renaming it now (while it is not shipped yet
as part of a "stable" Debian version) is probably better than living with
it.
I'll trry to do an upload soon-ish with these changes.
