This is bizarre. I double-checked the code in ip.cpp, cross-referenced the
Linux and POSIX manpage for getaddrinfo() and it seems to me we're doing
everything right.

Please let us know if you discover anything that might point to the cause
of the problem.

One last question: Do you have working DNS on your system? I.e. try
something like "host localhost".
