Well, since you can add and remove filters at any time, you might want to
start a subscriber with no filters and then add them later.

Reading through it reminded me of something, should it perhaps be
invalid behavior to recv() on a ZMQ_SUB that you have not yet called
setsockopt(ZMQ_SUBSCRIBE) on?
