Definitely this is not uuid.h which we were expecting,
...
#define uuid_t       __vendor_uuid_t
#define uuid_create  __vendor_uuid_create
#define uuid_compare __vendor_uuid_compare
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#undef  uuid_t
#undef  uuid_create
#undef  uuid_compare

It can not work with 0MQ, try to find different RPM with something like

typedef unsigned char uuid_t[16];
...
/* clear.c */
void uuid_clear(uuid_t uu);

/* compare.c */
int uuid_compare(const uuid_t uu1, const uuid_t uu2);

/* copy.c */
void uuid_copy(uuid_t dst, const uuid_t src);

/* gen_uuid.c */
void uuid_generate(uuid_t out);
void uuid_generate_random(uuid_t out);
void uuid_generate_time(uuid_t out);

  Oh, and my uuid.h file is attached to this email, if that helps.

  Thank you so much for all of your replies!

    one more idea (almost the last:)

    try to download zeromq-2.0-beta2.tar.gz from www.zeromq.org and start from configure (do not run autogen.sh on that machine)

      "gedit src/.deps/libzmq_la-uuid.Plo" yields a file that only contains "# dummy"

      If I want to add "/usr/include/uuid.h" to that file, how do I format it?

      Thanks
