[zeromq-dev] Special exception granted by iMatix

Hi all,

There have been a discussion yesterday on IRC whether LGPL3 grants the
right to link 0MQ with commercial applications statically.

The problem was raised in context of iPhone development where the
libraries - as far as I understood - have to be linked statically.

As LGPL3 is not 100% clear about the issue, iMatix grants following
special exception:

"As a special exception, iMatix gives you permission to link this
library with independent modules to produce an executable, regardless of
the license terms of these independent modules, and to copy and
distribute the resulting executable under terms of your choice, provided
that you also meet, for each linked independent module, the terms and
conditions of the license of that module. An independent module is a
module which is not derived from or based on this library. If you modify
this library, you must extend this exception to your version of the
library."

The clause can be found in COPYING.LESSER file in project trunk.
