Nice answer! :-)  I also suggested your idea of two, not one, fragment
bits to allow start/mid/end detection.

It's satisfying to see 0MQ and WebSockets converge on the same framing
style, especially since WebSockets started with a kind of UTF-8
sentinel based framing.  0MQ's experience in short-message /
high-frequency use cases has been valuable.
