[zeromq-dev] Pub/Sub for data distribution

Folks,
I think Steve-o mentioned somewhere that there's an interest in pub/
sub for market data distribution.
I thought about it a bit and realized there's a very simple approach
that could meet the dual goals of (a) performance; and (b) exchange
approval for an internal entitlements system (using an uncontrolled
feed).
This model should work equally well for game data transmission,
although pub-sub may not be as relevant since the endpoints are not co-
located (except on college campuses :-) ) However, this could offer
some advantages as a modified TCP/UDP + P2P re-broadcast model for LAN
gaming, and could provide localized P2P security.
Key distribution is a standing problem, but is orthogonal to this
solution.
I haven't done enough in the crypto field (pun intended) since the
mid-80's to be sure that it's right, but I think it's sound, but I've
been wrong before :-)
My advisor used to say : "In most fields they stand on each others'
shoulders -- in Computer Science, we step on each others' toes." The
goals of doing this is are (a) to reduce toe-stepping; (b) to prevent
someone from claiming a patent; and (c) to extend the reach of this
(and other related) platforms.
Is there any interest? I have been working 90+ hour weeks, but could
put a sketch together prob. this week, and would like a volunteer or
two to get us from strawman to woodman or so...
RSVP,
Best,
Matt
