One minor suggestion to what is a great piece of text:
>From this:

"... making profit from the new solutions that the ecosystem makes possible..."

To this:

"... profiting from the new solutions that the ecosystem makes possible..."

Pieter,

Kudos for the decision!

To me the change in licensing policy sends a very clear clear signal about aims of the project.

Let me rephrase it this way:

"We as a community are aimed at creating an open ecosystem for scalable distributed services. We share the understanding that such an ecosystem is worth orders of magnitude more than the sum of what any of us can make alone. We therefore work together, as a group of equals, making profit from the new solutions that the ecosystem makes possible, rather than exploiting and ultimately sucking dry the ecosystem itself."

Hm. It sounds a bit lofty, but I think it expresses the idea.

Martin
