My guess would be that you are overloading the network. You should set 
the transmission rate so that the network is able to cope with the load. 
Setting it to 1Gb/s on 1GbE won't do in long run. Try to decrease the 
rate limit to 500Mb/s. If it works OK, gradually increase it to find out 
what throughput is realistically achievable on your network.
