Jannes,

Yes, batching generally improves bandwidth. Still, it would be 
interesting to know what the impact on such an algorithm on latency 
would be...

For example, hw-based network interrupt coalescing improves bandwidth 
but damages latency in a considerable manner. Thus we instruct our users 
aiming for low latency to switch coalescing off altogether.

Thoughts?
