Sure they are, but build system generation is well tested only at Debian 
and Ubuntu. If you still want to use recent 0MQ version I have created 
source dist. package from current trunk (1072). You can find it at
http://www.zeromq.org/local--files/area:download/zmq-dev-1072.tar.gz

If you will find some time to give it a try on beforementioned Linux 
distros please give us some feedback.
