The CMake version is from version 1, I haven't updated it yet for version 2.
I use SCons primarily for development as I find it a bit smarter than the

The scripts are a bit clunky, especially when growing in number to support
different targets. I often stumble into bugs and limitations in the
versions bundled with most distributions, the latest being a lack of support
for Intel C 11 on Linux.
It's tedious to integrate into other projects and even package, hence ZMQ
builds OpenPGM itself using Autoconf.
